A lot of time and thought went into this album cover and it was designed and created by us. First of all, the title - Calling 1991, really just reverberates the notion of going back to a simpler time (and is also the year we were born).

The setting is a modern family home that has been riddled with bullet holes, blood, chipped paint, burnt electrical outlets, beer bottles, and tattered toys, signifying how common it is to live in a world of violence and destruction. The picture of the nuclear explosion that hangs on the wall, in place of where you might expect a family photo to hang, also shows how we live in a culture that glorifies war and death.

On the TV there is quite a lot to decipher, and will probably be easier to just list, but overall, it is a symbol of everything going on in our world today. We see abortion controversy (the baby playing with blocks spelling “safe”), conspiracy’s (UFO’s and v&ccinations), billionaires flaunting their money, politicians (i.e., clowns and dinosaurs) debating, and people burning money on useless things as our world burns in the background.

But, even as the tv, the media, and the world continues to be filled with so much “right and wrong” (“black and white”), there is a young child who sees through it all in color (the boy on the right of the cover). This child symbolizes those of us who see through all of the bullshit and lies and corruption and chooses to think for ourselves. The ones who choose love and compassion over hate and greed. The rebels. The hero’s.

This is Calling 1991.
